THE FAMILY PROJECT

“This is a dream come true” This is how Felipe Cruz describes this family project. After decades in the industry, he decided a few years ago to place all that experience into creating a line of wines that belonged in the palate of a large majority. With an elegant image and a company where each member of his family is present in some capacity, the range of wines show the character of its place of origin.

FOUNDER

Felipe Cruz, founder of DECRUZ Family Wines, has had an extensive career in the wine industry. In 1990, once he finished his studies of Commercial Engineer, he discovered his passion for this industry that led to begin this journey to occupy managerial positions at distinguished wineries such as Santa Rita, Santa Ema and Viña Errázuriz.

Available Varieties

Red Assembly: Cabernet Sauvignon 78% – Cabernet Franc 14% – Petit Verdot 8%.

Ageing

This wine is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels.

Pairing

Intense and well-structured with ripe tannins. This is an enveloping wine with magnificent fruit expression reflected in the long, broad finish.

ICONO RED BLEND

Vinification

Manual harvest in small cases and a selection of bunches. Fermentation was carried out at temperatures of 26- 28ºC, with several pumpovers to extract color, flavors, and tannins. The wine was left for 14 days for a post-ferment maceration and finally put into French oak barrels for its malolactic and a 24-month oak ageing.

Tasting Notes

Wine with a combination of intense ripe red fruits, berries, cassis and elegant toasted from its time in French oak barrels. Round and silky tannins. Long, complex and seductive.

Cabernet Sauvignon. Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah (85-15%)

Ageing

These wines are aged for 10 months in French and American oak barrels

Pairing

These wines are excellent companions of beef, veal and lamb. Also go along with roasted chicken, duck or goose preparations. Serving suggestions at 18ºC to 20ºC.

GRAND RESERVE

Vinification

The grapes for these wines were fermented in stainless steel tanks for 7 days at 30ºC followed by a 6-day post-fermentation process. Upon completion of the malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in French and American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

Wines with great concentration and firm, ripe tannins with a mouth-filling palate and a persistent fruity finish.

Ageing

The Reserve red wines are aged for 6 months in American oak barrels.

Pairing

Red Wines: Pair with grilled meats, well-seasoned dishes, stews, and ripe cheeses Chardonnay: Enjoy with fatty fish with sauces, shellfish, crab gratin, white meats, and aged cheeses.

RESERVE

Vinification

Red Wines: The must fermented in stainless steel tanks for 7 days at 30ºC followed by another 6 days of post-fermentation maceration. Finally the wine was barrel aged for 6 months. Chardonnay: Grapes were whole-cluster pressed. Once the must decanted, it fermented in American oak barrels, and remained on its lees for 6 months.

Tasting Notes

Red Wines: Full body, mouth filling and juicy, balanced acidity and sweetness, velvety tannins and a long lasting after taste. Chardonnay: Fresh and pleasing with good balance and a persistent finish.

CLASSIC TERROIR

Vinification

Red Wines: The must fermented in stainless steel tanks for 7 days at 28ºC, followed by a 3-day post-fermentation maceration. After that, the wine stays in stainless steel tanks until its bottling date. Sauvignon Blanc: The must was fermented in stainless steel tanks at 14ºC for 25 days. The new wine was fined, filtered, and carefully bottled.

Tasting Notes

Red Wines: Well rounded with exceptionally good balance and persistence. Sauvignon Blanc: Young and fresh with pleasing balanced acidity.
